I. Treat others respectfully and courteously. This should be a given. Don't be passive aggressive or pushy, don't be rude or antagonistic, don't try and shoehorn anyone into CR or shipping or anything they don't want to do. Likewise, don't godmode or write things for your partners. If you have an issue with someone or something they've done, please approach them in a civil and reasonable manner, and if you are unable to come to an agreement, then please bring the issue to mod attention.
II. Illyria has a three-strike rule. This goes for rule infractions as well as AC. If you break a rule, it's a strike. If you fail AC, it's a strike. An infraction strike falls off after 45 days of good behavior. An AC strike falls off after passing the next AC with one extra proof of activity. Upon acquiring three strikes, you will be removed from the game, and depending on the severity/frequency of the infractions, you may not be welcome to reapply. Nobody's perfect, though, so small things may only result in a warning rather than a strike. Likewise, significant transgressions, such as harassment or plagiarism, may result in a bypass of strikes altogether and an immediate ban.
III. Please be 16 years old to play. Illyria may involve writing dangerous or adult situations, or darker themes that require a certain level of maturity. If it is discovered you have lied about your age in order to gain acceptance to the game, it will result in an immediate ban.
IV. IC =/= OOC. Please keep in mind that if someone's character is an asshole, that doesn't mean that player is an asshole. A character being a jerk to your character probably isn't a personal attack, and how your character feels about someone else's character shouldn't influence how you feel about the player. Likewise, how you feel about a player shouldn't influence how your character feels about theirs. Additionally, your knowledge should be kept separate from your character's knowledge, so please make sure not to infomod.
V. Stay IC. Character development is awesome, and encouraged, but please remember that while people do grow and change, their fundamental personality should remain true to the one you applied with.
VI. The game will be capped at 100 characters for the time being. Right now, the mod team is small and sadly have to be adults for most of the day, so for the moment, the game will cap out at 100 characters, and each player can have a maximum of two characters at any time, all of whom must come from different canons, where a 'canon' is defined as a specific shared universe. There will also be a maximum of five characters per canon permitted at this time, in an effort to prevent any one cast from overwhelming the others. Sub-units of overarching canons will count as their own canons for the time being, so for example, Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager will count as individual canons and both be constrained by the five-character rule, however the overarching Star Trek franchise may wind up with more than five characters in the game due to multiple individual canons within. These limits may be lifted in the future if the mods gets more help.
VII. Please warn for content and lock NSFW entries to the community. This is self-explanatory. Anything that may be triggering or alarming or generally not safe for work, please give appropriate warning to anyone who might be browsing.
VIII. Activity Requirements: in order to pass monthly AC, your character must have made at least 20 comments across no more than three threads. Individual comm-communications can only count for five of these comments; the rest must be open-comm or log threads. Please don't put activity off until the week of AC. If a pattern of last-minute scramble activity is determined, you may be given a strike. AC will be the last seven days of each month. Make use of the Hiatus/Drop post, as retroactive absences will not be honored in most cases.
IX. The mod reserves the right to update these rules and make any changes necessary to benefit the needs of the game and its playerbase at any time.
