The Illyria is a Nova Class Starship. Lean and utilitarian, the Nova Class is designed for short-term scout and survey missions. It has eight decks, four standard space-worthy shuttlecraft, an auxiliary atmospheric Waverider shuttle, and a crew compliment of about a hundred.

Many areas of the ship will be open for characters to move about freely. The decks are connected by a turbolift system--which is essentially a line of fancy elevators, some of which go horizontally--or in the case of a power outage, there are Jefferies tubes. If your character ever wanted to infiltrate something via the air ducts, then they might be interested in learning the layout of those.

The main bridge makes up most of Deck One, however most player characters won't be spending much time there, unless they wind up becoming officers. Deck Two has officer's quarters and two transporter pads, as well as Impulse Engineering, Life Support controls, and the mess halls. Unranked player characters are not permitted in Engineering, Life Support, or in the Officer's Mess unless invited and accompanied by an officer. Deck Three has more quarters. This deck also holds Sick Bay, where characters awaken upon arrival, two science labs, and the main cargo bay. These areas are all unrestricted and player characters are welcome to come and go as they please. However, Deck Three is also home to several restricted areas: the security complex, the computer core compartment, gas tankage, and transporter buffer compartments. Unranked player characters may not enter these areas without an escort.

On Deck Four there are more quarters, the shuttlebays, and a lot of stuff that probably nobody's going to be particularly interested in. Restricted areas are the computer core, the warp nacelle maintenance areas, gas tankage, and the torpedo bays. Access to the shuttlebays is not restricted, but you'll need to prove you're capable of piloting before you'll be permitted to take the shuttles anywhere.

Decks Five through Eight don't have much that will interest most player characters. There are two quarters on Deck Six, on either side of Main Engineering, and Deck Seven houses Astrometrics, an observation and conference area, and the workout area, but everything else is just ship systems. Engineering, antimatter processing, the and defense field generator bays, and all of Deck Eight are restricted, but everything else is fair game. You can see some more of the plan symbols broken down here if you're puzzled about all those little squares and stuff.
